Invasion. Kyiv shot
The exhibition 'Invasion. Kyiv shot' is dedicated to the heroic defense of Kyiv against the russian occupation forces. It became the first exhibition project opened in the museum after the full-scale invasion of the russian federation into the territory of Ukraine.
Heavy battles for Kyiv continued from February 24 to the beginning of April. The Russians hoped to gain a lightning victory by conquering the capital of Ukraine. Having suffered significant losses near Kyiv, they were forced to escape. The scorched earth of the Kyiv region was littered with burnt equipment and mutilated remains of the occupiers.
Based on materials collected by museum staff in the Kyiv region (mainly in pre-Irpin), the exhibition is dedicated to the heroic defense of the capital of Ukraine, whose ancient coat of arms was a bow or crossbow.
Visitors can see the equipment, things, and provision of russian soldiers, Russian methods of conducting propaganda among the population of the occupied regions, the remains of ammunition, items destroyed or stolen by the occupiers, and photos taken by the museum staff in destroyed and looted cities and villages.
The National Museum of the History of Ukraine team expresses its boundless gratitude to the brave defenders of the capital who held back the moscow invasion. Eternal memory to the heroes who gave their lives during the defense of Kyiv city and the Kyiv region!
The exhibition will run until the end of the year (possible extension).
